What to Expect from Your Treatment

The removal of fat targeted by Kybella™ in patients occurs as the weeks pass. Because this treatment method relies on the body's own waste elimination processes to reduce the amount of excess fat, you can expect the full results of the procedure to become apparent over the course of the 4 to 6 weeks following treatment. Some pain, swelling, and redness may be present immediately following the injection, but this dissipates fairly quickly. Is There Pain With a Kybella Treatment?

Many patients may have mild anesthetic injected prior to Kybella™ injections. As you will be getting several injections of Kybella™ to help resolve the excess fat creating a double chin, it is important to us that you feel comfortable. Patients report a mild stinging sensation which lasts for about fifteen minutes. Dr. Pantazopoulos' patients report the treatment is generally quite easy to tolerate.

How Long Will Kybella Treatments Last?

As Kybella™ leads to the destruction of fat cells beneath the chin, these cells can no longer store fat. Not all fat cells are affected, so it is important that you have a healthy diet and exercise program to maintain your weight, but generally speaking, even with minor weight gain, fat will not accumulate in that area in the future, so the results are truly lasting.

How Many Kybella Treatments Will I Need?

Every patient varies, and it depends upon the amount of fat under your chin and what you envision for yourself. Many patients have up to six total treatments, each of which takes place at least a month apart. Many people report visible results with two to four treatments, while others need the full six treatments to achieve the desired reduction in fat.
